Prior to beginning construction, the area selected for the shed location must be leveled and cleared of obstructions.

Separate all lumber, hardware, etc. into individual stacks of like items.

Unfold each frame, setting aside two frames to be used as end walls. From 1"x4" Pine boards, cut Gusset plates 6" long. Use 4 plates per interior frame and 2 per endwall frame. Apply gusset plates on each side of the top and bottom fold locations. Frames to be used as end walls require only one gusset plate at top and bottom on the side opposite of the metal plates. Use four 8D nails on each gusset plate. See Figure 1.

Using one frame selected as an end wall, measure and mark stud locations according to dimensions shown in Figure 2. Place the proper length 2x4 stud at those locations. Mark required length and angles. Cut each 2x4 to fit. Toe nail studs into place using (2) 8D nails top and bottom. See Figure 2.

Using the remaining end wall frame, repeat Step 4, using Figure 3 as a guide. NOTE: In order to keep moisture from wicking into the sheathing, keep the bottom of the sheathing 1" above the bottom of the treated bottom frame member.

From treated 2x4's cut rim joists: 143" for a 12' building, 191" for a 16' building, and 239" for a 20' building. Place rim joists 12' apart in the intended shed area. Stand the front and back walls at the proper ends of the rim joists. Attach frames to rim joists using 10D nails. Temporarily brace both ends. See Figure 4. Place temporary bracing across roof frame members.

At base of building, measure diagonally. Adjust building until AC=BD. Building is then square. See Figure 5.

Using (3) 4x8 sheathing, attach to lower portion of backwall with 6D nails every 8". To finish top portion use (2) 4x8 sheathing centered on the building and temporarily tack into place. Mark roof line along the top of the top chord. Remove sheathing and cut along these lines. Attach into place using 6D nails. Finish bottom corners later using pieces from door cut out. See Figure 6.
NOTE: In order to prevent wicking of moisture into the sheathing, keep the bottom of the sheathing 1" above the bottom of the treated bottom frame member.

Temporarily attach (3) 4x8 sheathing to lower portion of frame. Mark backside of sheathing around door opening. Remove sheathing and add 1"in all directions around marked area. Cut sheathing along these new lines and reattach using 6D nails every 8". To finish top portion use same steps as in step 6. See Figure 7.

From treated 2x4's cut four 21-1/4" floor supports and the appropriate number of 22-1/2" floor supports: (8) for a 12' building, (12) for a 16' building, and (16) for a 20' building. Install as shown in Figure 8 using 10D nails.

12' and 20' Buildings
Cut (2) pieces of 4'x8' floor sheathing into (4) 4'x4' pieces. Use these pieces along with the appropriate number of 4'x8' pieces: 3 for a 12' building, and 6 for a 20' building, to stagger floor sheathing. Floor sheathing will need to be notched to fit around side-wall frame members. Attach using 6D nails every 8".

16' Building
Using (6) 4'x8' sheathing attach to floor supports using 6D nails. Floor sheathing will need to be notched to fit around side-wall frame members. Attach using 6D nails every 8".

Use the appropriate number of 4'x8' sheathing: 6 for a 12' building, 8 for a 16' building, and 10 for a 20' building, to attach to side wall frames using 6D nails every 8". Raise sheathing 1" from the bottom of the side-wall frame to prevent wicking.
NOTE: If T1-11 siding is used, place cut edges at corners. Make certain end walls and frames are plumb, (vertically level) and then apply sheathing using 6D nails.

Use the appropriate number of 1"x8"x 8' trim boards: 3 for a 12' building, 4 for a 16' building, and 5 for a 20' building, and attach to the expose ends of the roof frame members using 8D nails. Top edge of the fascia boards should be 1/2" above the top of the roof frame member. This will cover the exposed edge of the roof sheathing. Apply 1x2 nailer against building parallel with the bottom of the frame overhang. See Figure 9.

Locate and mark the angle of the peak on the 1"x4"x8' gable trim board and the angle where it covers the side fascia board. Nail with 8D nails. Remember again to have the top raised 1/2" over the framing to cover the roof sheathing.
NOTE: Tack gable end pieces in place and check fit before permanently nailing.

Cut (2) 4x8 roof sheathing into (4) 4x4 pieces. Along with the appropriate number of 4x8 roof sheathing: 2 for 12' building, 3 for 16' building, and 4 for a 20' building, use (2) 4x4 pieces on each side of building to stagger roof sheathing. Attach sheathing using 6D nails every 8".

Door Trim: Using 1"x4"x8' trim pieces cut to fit vertical door trim. Miter a 45 at the top corners. Cut to fit from 1"x4"x10' trim piece, the horizontal door trim.

Corner Trim: Using (8) 1"x4"x8' trim pieces cut to fit. Attach trim using 8D nails every 12".

Apply underlayment & roof edge. Apply shingles using roofing nails. Follow manufacturer's instructions (printed on bundles).

Starting at the bottom of one side, measure the space between trim, cut a piece of 8" nom. siding to fit and nail on with 8D Siding nails. Continue up the wall, leaving a 6" exposure of the previous piece of siding. Continue all around the building, making sure the siding at corners are at the same level and match up.

16' Building: Apply 1"x8"x10' and a 1"x8"x8' board. (cut to fit).

Use manufacturer's instructions for proper door installation.

Paint and/or stain as desired.
