Commercial Trusses
Scissors
A truss having the same pitch on each side, the same heel on each end, and the peak of the truss is in the center of the span. Scissor trusses may have overhangs from 0" to 24" on each end. Scissor trusses are placed at 2' On-Center spacing or less.
Common
A truss having the same pitch on each side, the same heel on each end, and the peak of the truss is in the center of the span. Common trusses may have overhangs from 0" to 24" on each end. Common trusses are placed at 2' On-Center spacing or less.
Mono
Used when adding on to an existing building. The highest point being at the existing wall.
Gambrel
A truss having 2 pitches on each side, giving a barn look to the truss. The heel is the same on each end, and the peak of the truss is in the center of the span.
Deep Heel
Used most often in a Post Frame application. This heel style does not require Knee Braces, so the ceiling is easier to install and looks better.
Vaulted Mono
Vaulted mono's are often used for porches as well as Lean-To's off of Post Frame buildings. Also used for cathedral ceilings that have a ridge beam in the center for support.
End Truss
A truss that requires a continuous bearing wall underneath it. An end truss has vertical nailers at 2' O.C. to allow for sheathing to be applied. The profile of an end matches the common trusses as far as heel height, peak height, and overhangs.
